Fun with Food
Fun with Food is an educational camp designed to teach children/youth about healthy eating. It also teaches participants how their food is grown and raised on the farm and how they can use culinary skills to prepare safe, appealing, flavorful meals and snacks for themselves and their families.
Note: Only Community Wellness Planners with the Office of Nutrition Education are eligible to implement this program.
Target Audience(s):
Children and youth in grades 4-6
Objectives:
Participants will learn:
- How to select foods according to MyPlate; and
- The nutritional importance of fruit and vegetables, dairy, grains, and protein in a healthy diet.
Total Number of Modules or Sessions: 3-5 consecutive days as a camp
Total Number of Hours for Program Delivery: 25-40 hours
