Ag producers invited to advisory meetings
RAYMOND, Miss. -- Agriculture advisory groups will meet across the state next month to provide input on educational programing and research conducted by Mississippi State University.
The three regional meetings offer agricultural producers the opportunity to share their needs for the upcoming year with the MSU Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station.
Northeast Mississippi producers will meet Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center, located at 5395 Highway 145 South in Verona. To register, visit the Extension registration portal at https://bit.ly/33GkdFD.

The central region will hold its meeting Feb. 23 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center. The meeting will convene at the Hinds Community College McKenzie Arena at 8 a.m. The arena is located behind the center’s office, which is located at 1320 Seven Springs Road in Raymond. Producers in the coastal region will meet Feb. 24 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Coastal Research and Extension Center, located at 1815 Popps Ferry Road in Biloxi. The deadline to register is Feb. 18. To register online, visit the CREC website at https://bit.ly/3rnsSVG.

All three meetings begin with registration followed by a general session. Each commodity group will then discuss their individual needs in breakout sessions. Some of the groups include agritourism, beef, bees, cotton, dairy, equine, ornamentals, peanuts, poultry, swine, turf, vegetables, grain crops, sweet potatoes, forestry and wildlife, fruits and nuts, and goats and sheep. Lunch is provided.
