MSU Extension, MAFES plan beef cattle field day
NEWTON, Miss. -- Beef cattle producers looking to improve their farms’ herd and forage production are invited to a field day March 26.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station are hosting the free event at the Coastal Plain Branch Experiment Station at 51 Coastal Plain Road in Newton.
Topics will include beef herd improvement, grazing management, soil fertility in forages, weed control in pastures, forage variety selection, forage economics, grazing cover crops and an outlook on beef markets.
A sponsored dinner and tour of current research projects at the station will conclude the event.

On-site registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. the day of the event. The field day starts at 2 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.
