Pecan Education Workshop set for March 20 in Raymond
RAYMOND, Miss. -- Commercial pecan growers can learn about orchard establishment and management during the 2019 Pecan Education Workshop March 20 in Raymond.
Experts with the Mississippi State University Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will cover horticulture and pest management topics. Subjects include grafting, irrigation, pecan varieties, and weed, disease, insect and wildlife management.
Sessions will be particularly helpful for beginners, but all commercial pecan growers are welcome.
The workshop will be held at the Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center, located at 1320 Seven Springs Road. It begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Check-in begins at 8 a.m.
Preregistration is required by March 12 and costs $35 per person. The fee includes lunch, refreshments and educational materials. Individuals who hold consultant and commercial pesticide applicator licenses and certifications can renew credentials expiring within 12 months. Consultant certification categories that can be renewed are E and I. Commercial certification categories that can be renewed are I(A) and X.
